Underground Trickling Bio-Filters (UTB) Plants

Underground Trickling Bio-Filter systems are Septech’s most popular sewage treatment plant. UTB’s are noted for their noiseless and odour-free operation with very low power consumption. UTB’s also consume a minimal amount of chemicals and generate low sludge volumes. UTB systems incorporate a high-surface area inert media for the rapid growth of biomass. The biomass assimilates nutrients and organic matter in an underground aerobic environment. This results in a rapid reduction (high conversion efficiencies) in the levels of impurities in the wastewater.

In public space areas such as parks, recreation and green-zones, the obscurity of Underground Trickling Bio-Filter (UTB systems) also makes it the system of choice where visual aesthetics are a premium.

UTB plant treatment volumes typically range from 3 - 200 m3 per day.

Capitox Sewage Treatment Package

The Capitox range of compact, packaged sewage treatment plants for small communities is designed to extended aeration parameters. This well proven activated sludge principle of sewage treatment is accepted as one of the most reliable methods of effluent purifcation. This system has been designed as a low cost packaged unit, requiring a minimum of attention or maintenance and is ideally suitable for small villages, hotel developments, housing estates, universities and any other location that is separated from local municipal sewerage facilities.

Enviropack (E-pack) Systems

The Enviropack (E-pack) system is based on an extended aeration process design. The focus of the design is to provide the maximum uniformity of aeration across the aeration tank, thereby providing high efficiencies to the process operation.

The Enviropack system also delivers uniform flow from the inlets, thereby ensuring loads are uniformly spread to prevent shock loading on any part of the system. The Enviropack systems are above-ground units that are based on a modular design for rapid assembly on-site.

E-Pack treatment volumes typically range from 50-500 m3 per day.

Membrane Bio-Reactor Plants (MBR)

Sewage treatment plants that employ the Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) process are the systems of choice where the production of high quality water effluent is an advantage. MBR processes are therefore ideal for re-use applications, whereby the treated effluent is used for irrigation, watering or wash-down uses.

MBR Technologies use a bank of membranes that are either immersed in the final effluent tank (iMBR) or are immersed in a separate side-arm tank (sMBR) to filter out biological solids as a final stage in the STP processes. The result is that MBR plants provide a high purity effluent. A Chlorination storage tank is usually incorporated into the process design to ensure that the water produced can be stored safely. The MBR process also operates at high sludge levels, so less sludge volume is required to be treated or transported off-site.

Membrane Bio-Reactor treatment volumes are usually 100 m3 and greater.

Moving Bed Bio-Reactor Plants (MBBR)

MBBR is an activated sludge process that produces a fixed film of biomass on a large population of small, inert carriers or Bio-media. The Bio-media provides a large protected surface area and optimised conditions for the bacteria culture to grow and thrive. The rapid biofilm growth delivers high efficiencies in the biological oxidation of organic constituents in the wastewater.

Through an air-agitation process that is applied to the immersed bed of inert media, the biomass is continually dislodged from the media, thereby providing a self-cleaning process stage. This process also continuously generates new sites for additional Biomass growth. The MBBR process is ideal for shock load operation, is not dependent on a fixed level of mixed liquor suspended solids for operation and does not require a return of activated sludge to maintain the process. Plant foot-prints are minimised through the combination of processes into tank compartments.
